Epidemiological Study on Alcohol and Malaria Interaction
In this project, AlcoMalaria Action Network conducted an in-depth epidemiological study to assess the community's knowledge regarding the role of alcohol during malaria infection and its interactions with antimalarial medications in Buea, South west Cameroon. This study aimed to uncover misconceptions and provide valuable insights into how alcohol consumption may affect the efficacy of malaria treatments. The findings from this research have been crucial in shaping public health messages and educational campaigns to improve treatment outcomes and prevent complications related to alcohol use during malaria treatment.
Brain Awareness Week 2024
As part of our commitment to promoting neuroscience, AlcoMalaria Action Network organized Brain Awareness Week, in March 2024, a comprehensive community engagement initiative designed to educate the public about brain health, sponsored by the International Brain Research Organization and Dana Foundation. The event featured interactive sessions on how to care for the brain, emphasizing the importance of mental health and neurological well-being. Additionally, this project targeted young students in college, sparking an interest in neuroscience through, workshops, and talks by experts. The event successfully inspired a new generation of students to explore careers in neuroscience and related fields, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of brain science within the community.
